This Is Me

Gefen class have been getting stuck into their topic ‘This is me,’ which is also a great way to get to know each other! Last week, we focused on introducing ourselves in PSHE and finished with collating adjectives to describe our peers. Now we can remind ourselves of all the positive things our friends think about us. This week, we began interviewing each other, finding out key questions like ‘what’s your favourite colour?’ We all really enjoyed finding out fun facts about each other.

In Topic this week, we began talking about growing up and how we change over time. Miss Rowan brought in pictures of her as a baby, toddler and adult and we spent some time looking at them and sharing similarities and differences between then and now. Some of the photos were really funny! During Art, we have begun looking at self-portraits and the work of artists like Andy Warhol and Frida Kahlo. Later on in the term, we will be painting our own expressive portraits. Watch this space!

Gefen class are also loving their cooking. Last week, we made oatmeal raisin cookies and this Friday we made yummy pizza. The children chose their own toppings, carefully chopping and measuring the ingredients.

Even amidst all this settling in and topic work, we have also managed to fit in Literacy and Maths, where we have been exploring number and describing ourselves. In Jewish Studies, we learnt all about Rosh Hashana, listening to the story of Sami the Spider. Next, we tried apple dipped in honey and made our very own Jewish calendar as well as practising our Hebrew alphabet. Good job Gefen!

What a fab first week!
